An FYI on schedule
Hi all,
Just to give you a brief overview of what's happening behind the scenes, we purchase NFL player data from a number of source to power the game model. We have to get that data after the Super Bowl to be complete, and it's in house now. Most of the modeling is automated, but there are still some things that we have to do manually. As an example, one of our data sources codes players by their first initial and last name, which is convenient until you notice that there's more than one TSmith or SWilliams, and those have to be sorted by hand. (Trivia: did you know that the Jets drafted two guys named Michael Carter this year?) So it takes a bit of time to parse those out, but we're getting there.
In the meantime, look up the players on your roster to check their availability. NFL players miss a lot of time over the season, and it's more likely than you would expect that you'll be surprised that some position group on your team will be decimated by injuries. You can use this time to shore up those last-minute gaps.
