How are players used during the season?

Quick question

If a player is injured in preseason and is out for a number of games or for the entire season, are his stats still used in the simulation games?
Is a player's availability mirrored to his availability during the actual NFL season?

Injuries during the Sandbox season match injuries in the corresponding NFL season. If a player is out in week 5 in the NFL, they are out in the week 5 of the Sandbox season. The Player Availability page is where you can find out which players are available during any Sandbox week. For challenge games outside of the Sandbox season, we treat all players as heathy and available.

However, if a player misses a whole NFL season due to injuries, they won't generate any NFL stats and there won't be data to represent that player's performance in Sandbox.


All simulations are based on statistics from the most recent NFL season. Through February simulations will be based on the 2021 NFL season. We'll have 2022 data processed before the next Sandbox regular season begins. Also, injury data only applies during
